The VE.Can interface allows multiple controllers to be connected to a single communication bus (daisy chain). This allows all devices to be charged simultaneously using a single RJ45 cable, which simplifies cabling and increases the stability of large PV systems.

VE.Direct is a point-to-point connection (one controller = one cable to the GX device), ideal for small systems. VE.Can is a bus that allows you to connect up to 25 controllers in series, sending data to the GX device via a single cable. VE.Can is also more resistant to interference over longer distances.

The VE.Can bus allows you to connect and synchronize up to 25 SmartSolar charge controllers in a single network. This allows all units to work as one powerful system, switching charging phases (Bulk, Absorption, Float) at exactly the same time.

The devices use standard UTP network cables with RJ45 connectors (Ethernet cable). It is important to install VE.Can terminators (not included) on the first and last device in the chain, which close the communication loop and prevent transmission errors.

Yes, the VE.Can interface in Victron controllers can be used to transfer data to the NMEA 2000 (popular on yachts). This usually requires the use of an appropriate adapter cable (VE.Can to NMEA 2000 micro-C), which allows you to view solar parameters on navigation plotters .
