Advanced battery monitor

The Victron Energy SmartShunt is a single-piece battery monitor without a display. Your smartphone acts as the display!

SmartShunt connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app on your phone (or tablet), allowing you to conveniently read all monitored battery parameters, such as state of charge, remaining operating time, historical data, and more.

SmartShunt can also be connected to a GX device, where you can also read the data. The connection of the SmartShunt is made using a VE.Direct cable.

Why SmartShunt?

SmartShunt is a good alternative to the battery monitor BMV, especially in systems where battery monitoring is necessary, but excessive cable length would create unnecessary clutter.

SmartShunt does not have a physical display - it is a shunt that transmits data (SoC, voltage, current) via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app on your phone. BMV-712 has a traditional, round display mounted on the panel. SmartShunt is a cheaper alternative to hidden installations.

Connect the "Battery Minus" terminal exclusively to the battery's negative terminal. All other negative wires (loads, inverters, chargers) must go to the "System Minus" terminal. Connecting loads directly to the battery will cause the shunt to not detect them.

Yes. The device works with LiFePO4, AGM, Gel and Flooded batteries. In the VictronConnect app, you can either select the appropriate profile or manually set parameters (e.g. Peukert coefficient), which ensures a precise state of charge reading.

Yes. This version of SmartShunt has an IP65 protection class, it's completely waterproof and dustproof. It can be installed in challenging conditions, such as the engine compartment or a humid garage. The standard version has an IP21 class (only for dry indoor use).

SmartShunt has a VE.Direct port. It allows you to connect it to the panel Cerbo GX and other GX devices. Thanks to this, you get access to remote monitoring through the VRM portal and a stable connection where Bluetooth range is weak.

A note regarding the range of the Bluetooth signal	The shunt and the electric cables do negatively influence the range of the Bluetooth signal. The resulting range of 10-15 meter is however satisfactory in most cases. The proximity of other electrically conducting elements, such as the metal chassis of a vehicle or seawater around the hull of a boat, may reduce the range of the Bluetooth signal to an unacceptable level. The solution in such a case is to add a VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle ( ASS030536011 ) to the system, and to switch off Bluetooth in the SmartShunt.
