Simarine STR1 - Radar Tank Level Sender

Non-Contact Liquid Level Measurement

The new Simarine STR1 is a non-contact radar liquid level sensor designed for tanks with a height of 150–2000 mm. The device uses microwave technology, allowing measurements to be taken completely without any intrusion into the tank and with no moving parts.

Compatibility with Existing Systems

STR1 has been designed as an analog version, offering maximum compatibility with existing measurement systems. The sensor simultaneously provides three standard signal output types:

  • 0–190 Ω
  • 240–30 Ω
  • 0–5 V

This allows it to work with a wide range of gauges and monitoring systems without the need for additional converters.

Key Features of Signal Outputs

  • Support for popular analog standards
  • Compatible with a variety of level gauges
  • No additional converters required
  • Universal use in new and retrofitted installations

Simple Top-of-Tank Installation

Installation is carried out from the top of the tank, with no holes required in its walls. The STR1 can measure levels through plastic and GRP lids, which significantly simplifies installation and eliminates the risk of leaks. For metal tanks, a dedicated waveguide adapter is required, as shown in the image below.

Durability and Stable Readings

The device has no mechanical parts, making it resistant to wear, corrosion, and fouling that are typical of conventional float sensors. In addition, signal filtering ensures stable readings even when the liquid is sloshing.

In practice, this means:
  • No moving parts subject to wear
  • Lower risk of failure compared to conventional float sensors
  • More stable measurement when the liquid is in motion
  • Greater resistance to fouling and corrosion

Configuration via the Simarine App

Configuration and calibration is carried out wirelessly through the Simarine app. The user can define the tank curve with up to 100 measurement points, enabling accurate representation of tanks with irregular shapes.

Summary

The STR1 is the solution for installations where ease of mounting, analog compatibility, and precise non-contact measurement matter most.

The Simarine STR1 is especially well suited where the following are important:
  • Non-contact liquid level measurement
  • Fast and simple installation
  • No penetration of tank walls required
  • Compatibility with analog measurement systems
  • Stable readings even when the liquid is sloshing
  • Precise calibration for irregularly shaped tanks

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

No. The STR1 operates without contact, using radar technology. This means the sensor does not need to have any physical contact with the liquid inside the tank.
Yes. Thanks to the ability to calibrate and define the tank curve with multiple measurement points, the sensor can accurately represent liquid levels even in tanks with non-standard shapes.
Yes. The sensor provides analog signal outputs, allowing it to work with many existing gauges and liquid level monitoring systems.
Yes. This is a particularly useful solution for mobile installations where liquid sloshing occurs, mounting space is limited, and a stable, maintenance-free measurement is required.
The STR1 has no moving parts and does not come into contact with the liquid. As a result, it is less susceptible to wear, fouling, corrosion, and mechanical jamming that can occur with traditional float sensors.
